Negatives

There are come con’s when it comes to the Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Pole. First off, in order to adjust the locks, you will need a small Allen key (included in purchase). This means if you forget it while you’re out on the trail, chances are you’ll be stuck without poles. We wish it was a Phillips or flat head which hikers are more likely to carry on the trail.

The second thing to keep in mind is that they do not clamp when fully collapsed. The clamps are larger than the smallest part on the pole. This means they can still slide slightly open, which can be a concern in certain situations.

Besides that, we absolutely love these poles and recommend them for all your hiking adventures. Yes, they are a bit more pricey but we believe it is worth it to buy nice, or buy twice!
